ZOOLANDER GETS A SEQUEL: ZOOLANDER PART TWO

VIA [racked] by Danica Lo

Zoolander! Ben Stiller and Justin Theroux are working on the script, according to Racked National. “No word yet on whether Hansel (Owen Wilson) will be back as well, but, let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be the Zoolander franchise without him. Theroux is said to be heading to Paris Fashion Week to immerse himself in industry culture, and Jonah Hill has signed on to play the villain (what about Mugatu?)

VIA [cinematical]

Derek Zoolander will be pushed aside no longer! Blue Steel cannot be contained! After many years of Ben Stiller saying he would go back to the world ofZoolander, it never came to be … until now: Deadline Hollywood reports that Paramount and Stiller are teaming up for a PG-13 Zoolander 2. And as much as I’ve expressed my trepidation in 2006 and 2008, they’ve gone and grabbed the one man who will make me see it. The Evil DJ — otherwise known as Justin Theroux — will write and direct the sequel.

Nikki Finke writes: “I’ve learned that Ben and Justin are working on the script together, and Theroux is going to Fashion Week in Paris to ‘immerse himself on what is current in fashion.’” Of course, Owen Wilson is an essential part of the mix, but he hasn’t made a deal yet. (Is there any chance he wouldn’t? Could he possibly take on Marmaduke and not do this sequel?) And, while Hansel isn’t in yet, it appears that Jonah Hill — Mr. Appear in Every Comedy — is in negotiations to play the villain, seemingly elbowing aside our beloved Mugatu.

But the big question is how well can a sequel do? The original came out only a few weeks after September 11, didn’t do so well, and then exploded on DVD. Can anything stand in Derek Zoolander’s way this time? And what do you think of the group thus far? I can’t wait to see what Theroux brings to the table, but do we really need Jonah Hill in the mix? Gah. Sound off below!

ALL I GOT TO SAY IS ” HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” (tear)

GOOGLE EMPLOYEES INDICTED IN ITALY

2/24/2010 01:57:00 AM

In late 2006, students at a school in Turin, Italy filmed and then uploaded a video to Google Video that showed them bullying an autistic schoolmate. The video was totally reprehensible and we took it down within hours of being notified by the Italian police. We also worked with the local police to help identify the person responsible for uploading it and she was subsequently sentenced to 10 months community service by a court in Turin, as were several other classmates who were also involved. In these rare but unpleasant cases, that’s where our involvement would normally end.

But in this instance, a public prosecutor in Milan decided to indict four Google employees —David Drummond, Arvind Desikan, Peter Fleischer and George Reyes (who left the company in 2008). The charges brought against them were criminal defamation and a failure to comply with the Italian privacy code. To be clear, none of the four Googlers charged had anything to do with this video. They did not appear in it, film it, upload it or review it. None of them know the people involved or were even aware of the video’s existence until after it was removed.

Nevertheless, a judge in Milan today convicted 3 of the 4 defendants — David Drummond, Peter Fleischer and George Reyes — for failure to comply with the Italian privacy code. All 4 were found not guilty of criminal defamation. In essence this ruling means that employees of hosting platforms like Google Video are criminally responsible for content that users upload. We will appeal this astonishing decision because the Google employees on trial had nothing to do with the video in question. Throughout this long process, they have displayed admirable grace and fortitude. It is outrageous that they have been subjected to a trial at all.

But we are deeply troubled by this conviction for another equally important reason. It attacks the very principles of freedom on which the Internet is built. Common sense dictates that only the person who films and uploads a video to a hosting platform could take the steps necessary to protect the privacy and obtain the consent of the people they are filming. European Union law was drafted specifically to give hosting providers a safe harbor from liability so long as they remove illegal content once they are notified of its existence. The belief, rightly in our opinion, was that a notice and take down regime of this kind would help creativity flourish and support free speech while protecting personal privacy. If that principle is swept aside and sites like Blogger, YouTube and indeed every social network and any community bulletin board, are held responsible for vetting every single piece of content that is uploaded to them — every piece of text, every photo, every file, every video — then the Web as we know it will cease to exist, and many of the economic, social, political and technological benefits it brings could disappear.

These are important points of principle, which is why we and our employees will vigorously appeal this decision.

Superforce Radio Show

On Hold While Show Is Back On The Market!

Many people have been asking recently, “Hey, whatever happened to that funny show that used to be on Party934, the Superforce Radio Show, or something?”

The short answer is, picked up for a third season, and coming soon!

However, talks and professional issues behind the scenes have made it very hard to choose with what station the show shall dock with.

No matter what station Superforce Radio sets anchor with, you can be assured the Show Will Go On, as they say!  Details about the hold up are confidential at the moment and have not yet been made public due to the legality concerns and ongoing negotiations between different parties and Superforce  Entertainment.

Specific names of companies and radio stations cannot be mentioned for reasons stated above, but, we can say two of them are Internet Radio stations and one is FM Bandwidth Radio.  The issue is nobody wants to pay the price requested, and anything lower than the price requested is HIGHWAY ROBBERY.

One Internet Radio station says, “You have an interesting show and lineup, and have a strong intuition for radio broadcast elements.” Then they go ahead and offer a deal that they cannot follow through with, causing time to be lost, and stalling other opportunities that are presently within reach.

i know the desk looks a little dirty, sorry loll

This has lead to immediate action resulting in a meeting of the staff at Superforce Entertainment, to discuss and rule on a final decision on what course to take.  Since an imminent response is on the horizon, sources say, we can bet on The Return of The Superforce Radio Show, sometime before Summer.

That  is the BuZz For Now!  STAY TUNED!

Janet Jackson Planning Spectacular VMA Tribute to Michael

Now that Michael Jackson’s body has finally been laid to rest, it looks like his sister JanetJackson is planning to pull out all the stops for a one-time tribute to the King of Pop at next weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards.

According to TMZ, Janet and her crew of around 20 backup dancers have been rehearsing around the clock — up to 15 hours in a single day — for Sunday night’s annual awards spectacle.

Janet, who has remained relatively quiet in the wake of her family’s tragic loss, is reportedly working on the tribute with some of the world’s top choreographers, including Frank Gatson and Travis Payne.

One dancer involved in the project tells TMZ “there won’t be a dry eye in the house” at the end of the number.

You’ll just have to wait until Sunday, Sept. 13 to see for yourself.

The Hulk and 4,999 Other Characters for $4 Billion

LOS ANGELES — In a deal that redraws Hollywood’s architecture, the Walt Disney Company said on Monday that it would acquire Spider-Man and his Marvel Entertainment cohort for $4 billion.

Disney will pay about 60 percent cash and 40 percent stock to acquire Marvel, the comic book giant whose stable of 5,000 characters includes some of the world’s best-known superheroes: Iron Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Captain America and Thor.

Marvel has aggressively exploited its most popular characters through motion pictures, video games and consumer products. But Disney sees an opportunity to plug Marvel into its vaunted marketing and distribution system.

Almost immediately, for instance, Marvel characters will pop up at Disney’s theme parks in Paris and Hong Kong. Disney’s cable television channels will showcase Marvel, while consumer products could be an enormous area of growth, particularly overseas where the comics company has struggled to make inroads.

“Marvel’s brand and its treasure trove of content will now benefit from our extraordinary reach,” Robert A. Iger, Disney’s chief executive, said in an interview. “We paid a price that reflects the value they’ve created and the value we can create as one company. It’s a full price, but a fair price.”

The surprise acquisition points to the film industry’s biggest issue at the moment: access to capital. Those who have it are finding opportunity; those who do not may be left behind.

The deal instantly makes Disney a partner with Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment and 20th Century Fox, all of which have long-term deals to make or distribute movies based on Marvel characters. Coming are new entries in Sony’s “Spider-Man” franchise and Fox’s “X-Men” series.

Over the long haul, Paramount has the most to lose, as Disney works Marvel into its system. Only last September, Paramount, a unit of Viacom, announced an agreement to distribute five Marvel films, including two “Iron Man” sequels, over several years.

Disney said it would honor Marvel’s studio contracts, but the goal was clearly to bring “Iron Man” and others in-house over time.

A Michael Jackson documentary is already set for release. AEG Live, with  more than 80 hours of footage captured during rehearsals for his ill-fated London concert series, and Sony Pictures is set to release a Michael Jackson documentary in late October.

Do you think it is too soon; or is AEG Live jumping all over this at this speed because they believe now is the best time (while everyone is still thinking about MJ) to release the images?

What do you believe?  Should they have waited longer to perhaps really think about the best way to use the videos?

Reports the LA Times:

Although several studios expressed interest, Sony emerged the winner by agreeing to pay Jackson’s estate and AEG Live at least $60 million for the film rights.

As part of the deal, Sony will deduct the cost of making the movie from the $60-million minimum. After covering its costs for distribution and marketing, it then will split the rest of the film’s revenue with the Jackson Estate and AEG via a complex formula that was redacted from a copy of the agreement filed in court.”

The film, to be directed by High School Musical director Kenny Ortega, is titled This Is It and will be released worldwide. Sources say that it will contatin some 3-D scenes but jsut between us, I don’t think throwing in some 3-D scenes means you have a full-fledged movie, well though of, and complete.  However, I will be wearing my Glitter Glove and MJ shades most definitely standing in the line to buy tickets on opening night!

It still does not take away from the fact that AEG is totally going to make some serious ‘necro-money’ from this, and although it may be intriguing to watch, collecting money from the release of these videos almost resemble a standard hostage situation.

Pearl Jam Pay Homage To Michael Jackson At The O2 ArenaAdd to My Fav Bands List

Pearl Jam took to the stage in London last night and wowed 20,000 fans with a twenty-eight song set – paying homage to Michael Jackson in the process.

Playing for over three hours, Eddie Vedder and co. held the London audience in their hands playing hits from throughout their career such as ‘Even Flow’ and ‘Alive’ alongside cover versions and previews of their new album ‘Backspacer’ including a first live airing of ‘Supersonic’.

The show was a star studded event too with Hollywood stars Jonah Hill, Tim Robbins and Josh Brolin in attendance.

At one point, Eddie Vedder affectionately dedicated ‘Blood’ to Robbins.

Paying homage to Michael Jackson the Seattle band played an acoustic snippet of The King of Pop’s ‘Ben’ within their own song ‘Rats’.

Before launching into ‘Rats’, Eddie Vedder gave a nod to “the man who was due to grace this same stage.”

Jackson, of course, was due to begin his sprawling 50-date O2 Arena residency this summer.

In cover happy mood the band also did versions of ‘Reign O’er Me’ by The Who, ‘Crazy Mary’ by Victoria Williams and the HollandDozier Holland track ‘Leaving Here’.

As Vedder left the stage he hinted at a long wait for fans to see Pearl Jam again however, saying “We won’t be back in Europe for some time.”
